Coffee is a daily ritual for many of us, so why not shake up the routine with a coffee-and-juice combination? Today we are making a coconut Americano: espresso paired with coconut water and soft coconut meat. With no added sweetener, you get the full, rich aroma of the coffee with a naturally refreshing finish. Give it a try if you are curious.

What Is an Americano?

An Americano is espresso diluted with hot water. Its strength depends on how many shots you use. The traditional version has no milk, but these days you will find variations with milk, juice, or honey, served hot or iced.

What Goes Into an Americano?

Just espresso and hot water. You can sweeten it with a little simple syrup or a flavored syrup of your choice.

Americano vs. Long Black

Both are black coffees, but the brewing order is different. For an Americano, the espresso is pulled first and hot water is added afterward. For a long black, the hot water goes into the cup first and the espresso shot is poured on top.
