- 150 g (1 1/4 cups) cake flour
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder
- 3 eggs
- 150 g (3/4 cup) superfine sugar
- 100 g (7 tablespoons) butter, melted
- 100 ml (scant 1/2 cup) milk
- 250 g (9 oz) fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan with butter.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Gradually add the melted butter and milk, mixing until combined.
- Sift the cake flour, matcha, baking powder and salt into the egg mixture and fold until no dry streaks remain.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and arrange the sliced strawberries on top.
- Bake for 35 minutes, until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool briefly, unmold, slice and serve.
